I need YOUR help...Tropical Fish?

Hi Everyone.
I am a School Student in my Last year of high school.
I have had tropical aquariums twice throughout my life but never just my own. I have decided i would love to have my own small tank in my bedroom to enjoy and care for.

My Question to you?
How many fish should i get?
What fish should i not mix in with others?(i know a few)
Can i put a small anenome in? (they are so serene)
What in your opinion are good natural decorations that make it ocean like?
You guys are BRILLIANT...Thank you for your suggestions.

That's the Aquarium i bought a while ago
The thing is my father is not a beginner..i as you can tell most certainly am. I no a fiar bit about tropical fish...and yes a saltwater tank...my father has had saltwater tanks since he was 20 he is now 50...these fish will be well looked after...he seemed to think the tank was fine. I really love clown fish and long nose butterfly fish.
Im Australian..i dont understand gallons...My Dad is a marine biologist...with his diving lisence...I will be taking care of them...but my dad will show me for about a month.

wait a small saltwater? if you mean 20g and up than its ok. sorry i can't see the picture cause my laptop doesn't load the link. well clown fish and long nose butterfly fish are very nice. ya the anemonea would work for the clown. some driftwood would look nice too.

That tank is only 22L, that really is too small for any of the fish you want, and especially too small for anemone's which are very fussy over their tank conditions!

I really wouldn't recommend that tank for anyone except extreme marine experts, which you're not, your father may be but you will be the one caring for it. Tanks that small are classed as nano systems and are very tricky to care for, and unsuitable for 99% of marine fish!

If you wanted a pair of Amphiprion ocellaris (aka Nemo Clownfish) you'd need a minimum of 113L (that's over 30 US gallons). Tank-bred Clownfish do not NEED anemone's either, they're quite happy hosting long-tentacled and easier corals, I've even seen one host a mag-float!

The Butterflyfish needs more like over 260-300L, never ever a 22L!

I suggest you pick up a few books and magazines on marine and reef keeping. If you insist on using the 22L I would suggest signing up to these forums:

And be prepared for a VERY steep learning curve!

Well, are you planning on setting up a saltwater aquarium? Your tank is very small for who i am asuming is a begginer because the water can fluctuate more quickly which could easily lead to dead fish.
Is there a certain type of fish you have your eye on?
Also, saltwater tanks are hard to maintain. If your just a begginer with fish i thin k you should get a freshwater tank first. then get a tank around 20 gallons big
