I need to unlock my ipod!!!!?

i locked my ipod and i forgot the password and its not even a number password its like words and i cant remember the password! the people at best buy said that i could plug it into itunes but then i would have to erase all of my music off of my ipod and re-download them and i dont want to do that so is there a different way that i could get into it?? thanksssss<3333
