I need to listen to more metal

I listen to a lot of pantera and I love it. Someone recommended in flames and I downloaded like ten of their songs and don't really like their style.

what's good?

I love tool too, never really considered them a metal band though.

Try Opeth, first and foremost.

I would recommend Shadows Fall, Diecast, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, and Mastodon for the straight up metal.

For metal that leans a little more towarRAB the 'hardcore' side, try Poison The Well, Norma Jean and Twelve Tribes.

Im surprised no has mentioned soilwork yet. However, if you dont really like in flames, I suggest soilworks last 2 albums, figure number 5, and stabbing the drama. Little bit more of the melodic metal, but metal non the less. And killswitch engage - any album.
 
I can't agree with the above post, Soilworks last two albums were terrible. If you really want to listen to them, I'd stick to there early work. There new stuff is just too weak, wimpy and simple. Same goes for In flames, they were good on there first few albums but they sold out and dilluted there sound way too much for my liking.

Hmm... yes, but he also did mot metion what kind of metal he was into. He said Pantera, so perhapse he is into mainstream metal. Not everyone likes that super technical stuff. Some people like their music to have catchy grooves and whatnot, even if they are simple. I have plenty of reasons why I think soilworks later stuff is better, but that would defeat my point that everyone has opinions, and thats exactly what he asked for. Quit being a nay saying deuche. You didnt hear me talking shit about all the banRAB I thought sucked, which is pretty much everything listed. Listening to music isnt about "getting someone on your team", offer suggestions, give a breif explaination, then just shut up. Or wait for someone to open a "lets talk about how the banRAB you like suck" thread, and I will gracefully decline to take part.
