I need to leave my home for six months or more. DO I need to unplug my fridge?

You don't need to unplug it, but most all of your food items will spoil in 3 to 4 months time, even those in the freezer compartment. So, you might as well unplug it; and besides, unplugging it will save energy.

eat everything and give away stuff you dont want and turn it off. when you get back plug it in and buy fresh groceries. saves you more money than trying to save all the food in your fridge and leaving the fridge plugged in.

if you got stuff you really want to save why not ask a mate and ask if you can store your stuff at their fridge. but that just me, and my mate would probably eat it anyways.
