I need to know what the problem is with my dodge neon?

So I went on my lunch break at work today and I went down the street to Subway. Everything with my car was fine. When I left Subway, I went to drive off from the red light, and my car would start to accelerate and then it would slip and not go at all. It is an automatic by the way. So all the way back to work I would try to go and it would slip and finally it wouldn't really drive at all. So when I got off of work, I reset the battery and tried to leave again. When I tried to reverse it did the same thing. But when I tried to drive forward, it would accelerate but it wouldn't go past first gear. So I tried to stay around 30 mph. When I got home, I pulled into my driveway and turned my car off and it started to make a gurgling sound and I got out and looked under the car and transmission was leaking all out of the car. I know it is probably something to do with the transmission but I want something more detailed that it could be. Or what I would have to do, whether it is buy a new car or just get a new transmission.
