I am in California, and TEMPORARILY working for Victorias Secret. Previously I worked at a different retail store and they made it very clear to us that when an employer does a bag check (to make sure no one is stealing as they leave) that the employer can not touch any of the belongings. The reason I am asking this is because as I left the store, a manager came over to me and I had my small purse open so she could see the entire tjhing, then she grabbed it and started opening up all of the pockets, the grabbed my wallet and looked through all my cash to make sure I wasn't hiding anything, and opened up the coin area. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing to hide, and would willingly open my zippers for them, but the idea that she was fiddeling with my money and grabbed me belongings out of my hands infuriates me. So I am hoping someone knows the law in California on this. I have searched everywhere and can't find a thing. And who should I call to report it? Thanks!
