I need to get my onstar and steering wheel controls to work with an after market radio?

No installation center can find the right thingy to make my onstar or steering wheel controls to work with by kenwiod cd player. Any suggestions? What if I want a indash DVD player?
 
The question kind of miffs me - installing a radio properly shouldn't effect the OnStar or the steering wheel controls.
Sounds to me like the installer get into some wiring over his head.
