here is the thing. I don't have money to go to the vet. They charge for visit fees on top of the prescription that they are going to give me. I don't have money right now to do all of that. My cocker spaniel has really matted fur because, he doesn't want to be touched. I have got him a muzzle, grooming kit, and even gotten him a tranquilizing pill once. None of those work. the pill made him calm down but when I used the grooming thing, he still snapped at me. The muzzle, well he still growls and snaps at me and I get too scared. If I bring him to the groomers then they would have the same dilemma. I need to put him to sleep for half an hour or so that way I can shave his fur. Do you guys know what to get and where to get it without going to the vet?

cocker spaniels are horrible dogs for grooming.

you can try calling the vet and asking how much childrens chewable benadryl you can give him - it makes them very sleepy and groggy. not as effective as a tranq but its better than nothing.

oh, and brush your dog more than .. never.. and it might not try to eat the groomers face off.

honestly though, there are groomers that can pair up on 1 dog and handle anything. we have never turned a dog away at our shop. call around, tell them the situation and youll find something
