I need to braze on a cable stop for my brakes on my bike frame. I have the mounts but not the cable guide/stop. I have a little knowledge but i want to be sure before i do this. First of all, I have a soldering iron that can reach 900*F, i have a spool of solder wire that has a rosin flux core. Would this be sufficient for a cable stop on a bike? I tried using a cold-weld compond first and it snapped when tension was on the cable. Would a soldered joint using the soldering iron and solder wire snap like the compund did? Do i need to braze the joint with like a copper wire and torch instead? Any opinions? Thanks a lot.
