Person A gives me 25 dollars

i Take A and B out to dinner and spend a total of 45 dollars.
My change is 5 dollars.
I give A 1 dollar and I give B 1 dollar so now i must give each of them another 24 dollars to pay my debt for a total of 48 dollars . 24+24=48
the thing is that after i gave 1 dollar to A and 1 to B I still had 3 dollars left but 48+3=51
how is this possible?
