i am doing a piece of work on peoples views and opinions for sociology and i would like to know -

what you think happened to madeleine?
is madeleine dead or alive?
do you think madeleine will ever be found?

I think she was taken to be used as a child slave or for sexual purposes; i think whoever took her would have seen her as too recognisable and killed her; I don't think we will ever know the details. We live in a sad world.

i think that the prime cause of her sad demise was the hedonism and neglect of her parents
i think that she was awakened from sleep by a fleeting check from a drunken parental visit and wandered out into the dark looking for love and protection, sadly she was pounced upon by a chance pervert who abducted, abused and destroyed her short life.
probably dumped in the atlantic ocean within a couple of hours

In a sociological sense, the disappearance of Madeline McCann raises a number of important questions. The first is about the immediate response of the media. This initially fuelled the view of the public who were obviously concerned for the child's safety and safe return whilst demonising the apparent 'neglect' of her parents.
The second and probably more important question concerns the issue of 'responsibility' or 'fault'. Many people blame the parents for the girls' disappearance, they see what they did as neglect and explain that if the parents were there than it wouldn't have happened. This is probably accurate but it doesn't answer the fundamental question of who was in the wrong. It seems to me that there is an increasing blame culture on the neglectful victim and not the actual perpetrator of the crime. Isn't the kidnapper, peadophile, abductor etc...MORE responsible? isn't it his fault that the girl was abducted? isn't he the criminal in this situation.
In much the same way...if you leave your bike unlocked and it gets pinched or you leave your car open and it gets stolen..Many people will blame you for the crime....'it was your own fault' you shouldn't have left it unlocked etc.....that may be the case but isn't the criminal the person who is the most responsible?
It allseems a little bit twisted to me...taking something that doesn't belong to you is a crime whether or not it is being looked after or locked up...the person/s most responsible for Madelines dissapearance is the criminal...not the parents.
In specific answer to your question i think that she was abducted and is probably dead.

I think she was kidnapped by a paedophile ring who may have murdered her or had her murdered due to the amount of publicity surrounding her disappearance.

(I hope to God that I'm totally wrong and that she will be returned save and well to her family.)

i am sure her parents did it and hide the body maybe it was an accident...
even if they did not do it, how can they leave their children in the night by themselves, asleep or not!

i think her parents are at partial fault because
A.they left the door unlocked
B. theyd rather go to a party leaving their children unattended
C. they waited 10 minutes to call the police

shes a beautiful girl and i hope they find her =[

i don't think madeline is alive any more she died on the night she disappeared
no evidence of any kidnap or abduction
she is gone as a result of parental neglect

It's an interesting question for a sociology paper. It's been quite a lesson in mob mentality observing the 'debates' on Madeleine McCann on here over the last few months. There has never been a great deal of factual information about the case and that has lead to some quite astonishing speculation both in the press and on these boards. There have been some quite vitriolic attacks on the parents and on anyone who persisted with the view that they were innocent until proven otherwise.

My personal view is that we may never know what happened to that poor child that night and her parents must be devastated. They did something that millions of parents before them, and probably none after them, have done. They thought their children were safe and must regret that mistake every waking minute of their lives.

do your studies on forensic science and you will get all the answers you are looking for
sniffer dogs detected a corpse in the apartment , also traces of blood etc found in kate and Gerry's car
i hope one day she is found bless her

she had feckless parents who preferred a booze up with mates to looking after their children

she was neglected by these parents and probably died as a consequence

she was a very unlucky little girl .....unlucky to have been born to parents who were old enough and educated enough to know that their selfish behaviour was wrong

I think she really was kidnapped and that she is alive somewhere in the world and that one day whoever has her might get a conscience and return her to her rightful home.
I hope so anyway.

It sounds awful but i am beyond caring now!
very sad whoever did what, but why are the media still shoving it down our throats!
People die and go missing all the time, just not all of them are white, middle class, blond, photogenic, doctors children !!!
