The water in the tank was filthy for a very long time. The water was then changed today- no chemicals were used. After 3 hours one of the goldfish was in the corner on the bottom of the tank. It was hardly moving and when we hit the tank to make it move it lay still and did not make any reaction at all. It looked quite pale and wasn't breathing as much, it also had some pink marks on it's scales. It was lying on the surface on it's own.
It died after about 7 hours from changing the water. Another fish died in exactly the same way 4 hours after the first fish died. This fish was a koicarp.
Please help there are two fish left- one is a goldfish and the other is a koicarp

I have a water filter fitted. when i got the fish i just put the filter on and put the fish inside without cycling it.
2 of the fish are now gulping for air and they have red splodges under their fins.
I took out all the water and changed it completely to tap water.
I can't buy a huge tank, my tank is 40cm x 25cm for 4 fish is this really small? but now for 2 fish.
Will they die??
