I need some advice on purchasing a stereo?

I don't know much about sound system, never have. I have a 160ish dollar max, preferably no more, but if needed, I will save up. Someone recommended me an amp, but I don't know, I hate mini shelfs because they are not mobile at all... I'll tell you basically what I want...

-iPod connection: A little plug in thing to play music for it, I just really want that, since I listen to my iPod 24/7
-Mobility: I have my drum kit upstairs, my room, my family tv downstairs, I don't want to go through a hassle to move it, so it will just stay in my room and I will use it, but I would love mobility
-Sound: I want it to be GOOD, not AMAZING, just good, it doesn't need to be the most superb sound quality ever, I just want it to be good, and I want to be able to play it loud, and it will still sound good, and I want it to not break when I play it loud.
-I'm don't really need an exact recommendation, even though I would still like some, but basic education would work, just fill me in on the specs, and what a good system is and what isn't

I want it to be able to hook up to: computer, iPod, TV. I dislike mini shelfs, but if that's the best bang for my buck, I will get one

thanks for reading

You get what you pay for and $160 won't buy you much. My advice is to save your money until you have enough to buy something decent.
