I need prepaid help!

Hey, I joined this forum because I really need some help. I wanted to buy a phone but realized I am too young for a contract. (16 going to be 17 in Sept.) So I wanted to buy a gophone. I really don't like the phones they have so I wanted some help. I heard that you can use a gophone sim on a at&t, or unlocked, cell phone and it will operate as a gophone. So here's what I have so far:

1. Buy a prepaid sim card:
AT&T 3G Sim Card 64K Prepaid [GoPhone]. Will the ones on ebay work? (sorry I can't post links)

2. Activate it online on the At&t website

3. Buy At&t phone without service off of Amazon.
Lg Xenon
or
Samsung Impression
(will both work as prepaid? which one is better?)

4. Slip in sim card from step 1 and 2 into phone in step 3

5. Use it?

Is this all right? If not please fix it. Any tips would be helpful. Oh and sorry if I posted it wrong or broke any rules.

P.S. I will be using Pick Your Plan prepaid if that matters.
 
to be honest I am not really sure how that would work. I know you can buy a gophone and put your sim card in it and it will work on a monthly plan so i don't see why it would not work the same way around for a go phone. someone please correct me but I think it would/should work.
 
You can use any phone which will accept an AT&T SIM card as a GoPhone. The only phone with problems would be the iPhone. In some states it might be impossible for minors to authorize automatic payments from a bank account they control. Anyone can purchase Pay As You Go cards for refills.
