Okay, I've written him a few times already, he says it sucks and all that, pretty much the normal stuff. When I write him I usually put some inspirational quotes at the bottom. But I wan't to write him because they have been holding their mail for a couple weeks. But I just can't think of much to say besides "Keep Fighting" because I've pretty much told him everything that's going on and happening in our first few letters.... Any tips??

Thanks..

Just keep writing. It is the letter, not the words, that is important. Basic is a lonely and tough time...just do all you can to encourage him.

I was in Navy boot camp. I spent lots of time with Marines when I was stationed at Groton / New London.

I can honestly say that the one type of letter people really appreciated was hearing about news and stories from back home, like finding out that Mary was dating John, or that Sue got a new car.

People in boot camp need to feel that people back home still remember them and think about them. It's cool to be told "Hey, you are doing the right thing," but the letters that people remember years later are the ones that remind them Why they are doing it. You know, stories and stuff about the people they left behind.
