I need help with Windows Media Center extender to an Xbox 360?

I just recently started to record high def TV with WMC in the hopes that I would be able to stream it to my Xbox 360. In the past I have streamed a lot of different recordings to my Xbox 360 Via WMC but nothing as large as an HD TV show. It turns out I cant really stream it because the connection to my router is not strong enough.
On top of this, I tried to just save the show to a large flashdrive and transfer it to the 360. This didnt work either because the 360 did not recognize the flash drive. I also have a playstation 3 but that did not recognize the file, the file is a dvr-mc. The router is about two rooms away from the Xbox and moving it any closer it not a possibility right now.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I have a Netgear WGT624 V3 set to channel 8 on mode g and b. If anyone has any better recommendations for this I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows how to get a PS3 to play dvr-mc that would be helpful to. Basically, anything that will get this file to play on that Xbox or PS3 without moving my router to another room, directly connecting the Xbox or burning the file to a DVD. Thanks.

Buy a spindle of Cat- 5 or 6 cable and LAN heads. Then wire your house along the ceiling and when done, you should have a 100-Mbps connection established.

You said your wireless was set to b & g?

Are you using wireless b at all? The problem is that if the router is set for g & b and there is any b signal around it will slow down to 11Mbps for all traffic. If you set it to g only you should be able to get 54Mbps out of it (depending on conditions).. Also you should only use channels 1, 6 or 11.. these are 'non overlapping channels' basically wireless networks put out a lot of noise in the adjacent channels.. if there are other wireless networks in your area it's best to stick to just one of the non overlapping channels to avoid interference.. (check the site below for more information)

I know you said you don't want to run a direct cable connection to your Xbox but it might be worth it to use one temporarily as a test.. there might be some configuration issue with your computer or media center and you would want to identify that before you spend too much time trying to fix your wireless.

Also, I looked up your router.. it looks like it has a single antenna with a R-SMA connector.. you might want to consider getting a higher gain antenna for it.. (second link below).. this can extend the range and strength of the wireless signal. Also take a look at the antenna placement for both the router and the Xbox 360.. you want them to be parallel to each other..

Update>>
I found a way cheaper antenna.. it's a D-Link ANT24-0800.. on newegg.com for only $11.99 after rebate.. I usually buy the Cisco ones but this one might be worth a shot.. it has the same R-SMA connector.. (3rd link)
Good Luck..
