I NEED HELP WITH THIS CAR!!?

i just bought a 1989 chrysler 5th avenue. it runs like a champ. the only problem is, is that she burns aloooot of gas...i drove home from work which is barely a quater of a mile, and tiny notch of gas already depleted on the gauge. WTF. is there anything i can do or tips to make this car effecient on gas?? gas in my area is $3.06 a gallon (houston, texas) and it has a 5.2 lite 318..my 1st car btw so im kinda lost.
