I need help with my friends starting drama?

So I happen to be in a club where we have a branch specilically for music. my friend who I used to hang out a lot with last year and ocaisionally see her, is the leader of the club branch. I am part of the Main Club Council. My 3 friends whom I now hang out with, and are also part of the council, say they want to do a dance for the branch part of the club, but the leader of the club, my friend, says that it's not good, it's old, we would look ditsy, and it's just repetetive moves. Plus we go to an arts school so doing a dance like that would look very amature. But my friends want to do it really badly because they keep wanting to be in a performance.but we don't have enough people to do it and we aren't prepared. If I tell our president she will back up my 3 friends. I don't mind doing it, but I honestly think we shouldn't and I don't know how to tell my three friends that. How can I say it without being mean?
