I need help with my Digitech Death Metal pedal?

I bought a DigiTech Death Metal pedal about 4 weeks ago, and it worked fine, I was using batteries to make it work.. but then I found a random adapter in my old stuff box and it fit perfectly, so I started using it, after like a week or more the pedal didnt want to turn on, I got very disappointed and wanted to throw it away. Is there something I can do? do I have to send it to the company? I dont really want to throw away actually :/
