My father is going through a very nasty divorce with his second wife. The problem is every time the court date approaches, she files for a delay-or whatever the legal term is-and the date gets pushed back a few months. She has been doing this since 2005! She most certainly does not have any authentic or legitimate excuses for doing this. Everyone involved knows it's B.S. but there's apparently nothing we can do about it.
They were married in New York state and moved back there before filing for divorce. She initiated the divorce and she alone is the one filing all these delays. They have been separated for a few years now and there is zero chance of reconciliation. It's becoming a real toll on the entire family both emotionally and financially; we just want to go to court and end this nightmare once and for all.
So does anyone know how to get around this? Is there something in the New York state divorce laws that can be used put an end to this nonsense or does anyone know some good free resources on New York divorce laws on the net?
