i need help picking a sport bike?

i posted a similar question recently but i think i wasnt clear. i have never driven a sport bike, i am familiar with dirt bikes though.. anyways i definately want the sport bike look, dont care bout the speed ill never be racing...ill definatley be buying a used bike (looking for the 2 to 4 year old range, due to cost)..

i understand that it can be a fatal mistake by choosing a bike that isn't good for beginners. SO I NEED SOME HELP, what are some good bikes that would be good for me to start out on. my girlfirend will kill me if i end up dying on one ;)

just to help you help me, i really like the look of the yamaha R1 ( i kno, too fast for a beginner) so maybe something like that but not as powerful. and i also really like the look of the exhaust pipes under the seat
one last thing.. i like the style with the skinny seats in the back (as apposed to the fatter ones)... thats it
 
First of all where you from? US?
I suggest you get your licence and then get some test rides booked, a 250cc road bike is far quicker than a 250cc enduro, because of things like tyre slip. I suggest you dont test ride any thing above a 600 because you will be astonished how quick it goes.
Any way, R6, ninja 250, suzuki gsxr-600 cbr600... they are all around the capacity you will be looking at.
