My desktop pc sony vaio is lagging and kind of slow every once in a while. It really gets on my nerves. I heard formatting my hard drive could help. Except I don't know how to do that at all. I got a 1 Terabite 2.0 + 3.0 USB harddrive to put all of my files on.Can someone walk me through how to format my harddrive. Would I have to reinstall all of my programs or would copy/pasting it back on the computer be alirght. Is it easy? And whats the walkthorugh. Would I need to use my recovery disk? And does formatting my harddrive guarantee a faster computer? And of course lastly, how do you format your harddrive???
Thanks so much.
Will pick best answer + 10 pnts
THanks!!!!!
CCleaner sounds cool. whats a good website to get it off of for free without getting a virus? is the piriform website ok?

It depends, i had the same problem with my hp computer, i plugged in a 2 tb into it and thought it would automaticly work faster, it didnt. So, transfered all my files onto the drive and then left :C by itself and deleted the uncopied stuff. I removed around 6.6 GB

Just try Defragmenting your HD. your computer already has a defrag on it.

you can find it in programs and then run the simple executable

also try cleaning up your registry, there is a program called CCleaner which is free and works great

this should solve your problem without the hassle of formatting

if you get faster computer, you can format it by bootable cd,also you can do it by old hard drive to new hard drive it is not good way to format because viruss troble,

while you formatt your drive by bootable you must reinstall software,
