I Need Help. Im learning how to use html on notepad?

Im learning how to make websites by html. and im using notepad.
i need help im trying to put an image as a link but i cant could some one try helping me out.
ive been using this site i follow everything but the picture size comes out the the picture dont just a lil ripped paper in half on the top left of the picture box

Also make sure the img source is pointing to the correct location.
