Hi Everyone, hope you're having a happy holiday season.

I have been searching high and low for my Snell ancestors. I have been unable to connect my William Snell born between 1790-1800 in SC to his parents. I have eliminated two possibilities through DAR records. I think finding him on an 1820 census would be beneficial, however, I don't have access to those records.

Can someone please look up a "Snell" (could be spelled Schnell or Shell) on the 1820 census. Most of the Snells I am researching came from Orangeburg Dist. South Carolina. William Snell married an Elizabeth and they have a daughter, Mary Rebecca born April 1819. I have information that she may have been born in Greene County, GA or possibly in AL. I have reason to believe that William can be found in either SC, GA or AL in 1820. I know he is not on the 1820 census in Monroe County, AL.
In 1830, William is found on the census in Monroe County, AL where he lived the rest of his short life. Some researchers think he may have gone by a different first name.
There is another William Snell who is around the same age born in SC, and died in 1830 in Wilcox Co., AL - but this is not the same William - I researched this possibility and they are definitely not the same person.
There is also a David Snell & a John Snell Jr. who are found in Monroe Co., AL in 1830 all born in SC. I have researched these two people as well, and had to rule David out as a brother to William. John Jr & William remained in Monroe Co., AL.

If anyone can find "Snell" in SC, GA or AL on an 1820 census, I would appreciate it. He would be 20-30 years of age, be married and possibly have a girl less than 5 years of age. Any marriage records of a Snell between 1810-1820 would also be helpful.

Thanks again for your help,
Lisa
