...Suspense/Romance? I don't remember the book, author or character names.
However, I do remember what happens.
It's about a woman (a lawyer, I think) who is being transported to testify against a group of men who are believed to have taken the law into their own hands and committed murder in a town she used to live in.
On the way of being transported, they (the woman, detective and her baby) get into a car crash. (I think there was another person in the car who died, but I don't remember) Anyways, she and her baby are fine but the detective develops amnesia. Upon finding this out, the woman tells the detective that he is her husband. He has a feeling that she is lying but can't remember otherwise.
The book goes back and forth between the present and what led to her testifying. She was a lawyer who moved into a small town. She married a man who was well-known and came from a respected family. Soon, she discovers that a cult-like group had formed, which is made up of men from the town (her husband included), and is taking the law into their hands; from committing murder to cutting off body parts. After finding out her husband's participation in some of the murders (also, she found out that he was cheating) she moves away and goes into hiding.
