I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what I want to accomplish in school. Right now I am working on my AA in Music at Hillsborough Community College in Florida. I play classical guitar. My ultimate goal is to compose music for film, television, and video games. This is sort of the route I have planned for when I obtain my AA in Music: a BA in Performance, then a MA in Theory, then a PhD in Composition.
Would a BA in Performance be unnecessary or a waste of time since I am most interested in composition? I am interested in teaching at the university level too so I am somewhat set on obtaining a PhD. Can any of you give me any advice? Maybe help me alter my “plan” for the better? Are there any colleges/universities I should be looking into?
