two problems in one. you don't have to answer both, or even solve them. just a simple explanation would be GREATLY appreciated.
also, if a number is in parenthesis by itself, it's supposed to be an exponent.
(x + 1) (x -1) = 0
and then...
5x(3) + 30x(2) + 40x = 0
oh, it's solve for 'x', by the way.
