I am looking into 2 suzuki gs500f. one is a 2004 with 996mi and the other is 2007 with 11,000mi. both are in amazing condition and have good service records. both are $3000. 2004 has a carbon fiber yoshi pipe and 2007 stock. which one is a better deal? P.S. don't tell me to get another bike. i am set on getting this one as my first bike.
thanks guys. im going this weekend to pick up the 2004 one. The person also recently added that he'll throw in and install angel eyes, hid lights led brake light with integrated turn signals if i pick it up this weekend. can't wait!
hid lights and led brake lights.....

Neither one really has a lot of miles. I guess I'd go for the 2004 because I don't think the difference between the two models is very much.

The aftermarket exhaust would play no part in my decision, unless it was a lot louder and then I wouldn't want it. When someone puts an aftermarket exhaust on a new-ish bike, it's not because the original exhaust system has rusted out, it's just because they want it louder. Where I live you can get a ticket for a bike that's louder than stock. And anyway I'm not a person who thinks louder is better, though some do. Trust me, the Yoshimura exhaust doesn't make the bike go any faster.

The GS500 is a GREAT bike for learning on. It's not a serious sportbike, it's more general purpose, but it's sporty enough that you can have a good time, powerful enough for long trips at high speed, but light enough to be easy to manage. You might decide later you want something faster, or bigger, but by then you'll have some good experience under your belt.

Id go with the 04. Its low miles and the fact that they already changed the stock can, means less money you'll be spending right off the top anyway.

Cans are always almost the first thing that gets changed when people by bikes, since this one already has an aftermarket one, you can use that money you would have spent on the pipe to get you somethings you'll really need, like frame sliders, swing arm sliders, rear stand, competent tool set...etc etc

However I would be inquisitive of the low miles on the 04 just as a precaution. It may be that the person just decided that the bike wasn't for them, or something could have been internally wrong and after realizing how much it would cost to fix they simply shelved it.
