Dear Financial Aid Appeal Committee,

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee for giving me another opportunity to appeal my suspension and for taking the time to review my letter.
As I directed from my previous SAP Appeal, I take complete responsibility for my Spring 2008-Spring 2009 semesters. I was attending IUPUI, Ivy Tech and working full time which I found was more than I could handle. This would ultimately hinder my goal of graduating sooner. The stress from this would contribute to a lack of focus and concentration in certain areas of my studies. I was not "forced" to put my attention elsewhere, it was a choice, but losing my job was out of my control. Taking on too many classes then dropping them would also be found costly and counterproductive. Throughout this semester I kept the promise to myself to complete all assignments, attend Math Lab on a constant basis, and take additional time to study alone and with study groups. Committing myself to Finite and Microcomputers did however take my focus off of Anatomy. The time I put into Finite Math (MATH 135) and Introduction to Microcomputers (CINS 101) took a toll on study time for Anatomy and Physiology I (APHY 101). Because of this, my APHY 101 grade dropped dramatically, it was my intention to withdrawal from this class by the deadline. But after I spoke with a Financial Aid Representative, she informed me that that would not look too well considering I had turned in an appeal already for the month of November. Therefore, based on the representative's recommendation I decided to not withdrawal from the course, I knew I was going to fail either way.

Referring back to my initial appeal with the same intentions of entering School of Health Science into the Health Information Technology program, the only general duration course I must take to be selected into the program is Anatomy and Physiology I. I still have to pay for the remainder of this semester, which will be paid before the Spring semester starts, and I will only enroll into APHY I. Once again I take full responsibility of thinking I can put enough time into a course that requires 3-5 hours of study time a day. I allowed myself to get off track because I was determined to reward myself with A’s in my other courses. None the less, I will keep all my focus on one course, attend open lab, study groups, and everyday study 3-5 hours by myself. I place the blame on no one, but myself for falling below the requirements of SAP. I am very much aware that I should have taken some different directions to maintain my grades above an F, but I have compiled a list of things I will do to obtain/maintain higher grades and continue my success in school. After reviewing my transcript carefully I plan to make arrangements to remove the D’s and F’s through the FX Process.

I will continue to work on my time management to balance out my work and study time. I will attend my classes and notify my professors a head of time if I do have to miss a lecture so that I do not fall behind on any of the course content. I am due to graduate in Spring 2012 and without the help of financial aid I will not be able to obtain my degree. I need this financial aid now more than ever. There isn’t anything else that I want more than to obtain my degree than continue to IUPUI toward B.S. Health Information Administration. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is to me. Please allow me the opportunity to continue receiving financial aid to continue my education and make this dream of obtaining my degree possible.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
