READ CAREFULLY! THEN GIVE ADVICE PLEASE!
HERES THE SITUATION IN SHORT!
1.Ok, so I filled out a FAFSA last year and the lady helping me told me to fill it out a certain way to get more money.
2.She said in all the money fields to put zeros, say I have a kid, and that I did not file taxes.
3.So, I did what she said AND IT WORKED...I GOT MY MONEY but later I found out that this is illegal.
4.I can't erase anything now...I know.....it's too late!
5. I didn't finish the school and ended up recently paying the grant back in full.
6. I'm tryin to apply for aid again for a different school but SINCE I KNOW now that this is ILLEGAL, I DON'T WANT TO LIE ON THE NEW APPLICATION.
7. Can I fill a new FAFSA Application without getting caught up at this point or will they see the differences in the applications from last year and this year? Should I just fill it out as I did last year?
I need advise on what to do. I just don't want to get caught up and go to jail/ prison...it was an honest mistake.
