Hi Everyone, I'm kinda new to the message board and I have posted a few things recently but I'm gonna lay it all out there now! I am at the end of my rope.. I hurt my back at work in 08 and ended up having a fusion from L4-S1 with a disc impant at L5/S1. Workers comp had me return to "light duty" for a period of time and then told me if I didn't return to full duty I would loose my job. My job was very physical and I wasn't at all ready to take that on. I wrote a letter to human resources asking for reasonable accomodations and they transferred me to a different position, however it didn't help. I went through ESI's, discograms, RACZ, and it turns out I needed another fusion above the existing one. I had another surgery in 09 - so I'm fused from L3-S1 and I'm still in pain. In the meantime, I lost my job because I exhausted all of my fmla time and I could no longer perform the duties required of me anyway. To top it off my husbanRAB employer relocated us to another state. Now I have an open wc case and my neurosurgeon has been saying since April that I need another surgery. I have a failed fusion, a compressed nerve at S1, and a bad disc at L3/L4. Workers comp has been trying to discontinue my benefits because I moved out of state. I had an IME and that was a complete joke. The IME dr wanted me to have a myelogram, which I did - and he still hasn't given his report from 3 months ago!!!! I don't understand how they can treat injured people this way! Obviously I need help!! I'm just not getting it... ANY ADVICE PLEASE HELP!!!! I also applied for SSD over a year ago and of course was initially denied - waiting for hearing date.

I'm so sorry you are going thru so much. I honestly think your only hope is to hire a w/c attorney and let him handle it all. Workman's comp is a joke as anyone who has dealt with them will tell you. Not helpful for the pt as they are only looking out for the employer....the exact opposite of the way it should be. I do wish I had better advise for you and hope you get the help you need soon.

Carol
