I need a Twitter education. What is it? How do I use it properly?

I feel a little stupid not figuring it out. None of my friends twitter, is me using it a waste.
 
to get started register. click find people. then sbpjh(me lol)
click view all my contacts bottom right
n you can copy n follow them all
hope it helps it,ll get you started
