I have a rockford amp and two p3 subs.. I have a 1 farad cap as well.. My amp keeps cuttin out at high volumes.. Not going into protect mode but actually losing power.. When it cuts out someties it comes back on when I turn down the volume or turn off the cd player and turn it back on.. I was told it could be a battery or alternator but that cost alot.. Im on a tight budget but I will pay for a good battery if anyone knows the type to get.. OR is it even the battery? I dont know but I wanna be bumpin again

Now I have a 1 farad cap on it.. But for about 6 months I had it hooked up wrong.. Then my check engine light came on.. And I kept blowin the fuse from the power cable.. The cap is hooked up right now.. What the heck?!?!?!?!?!?

AAAANNNNDDDD.. Its not going into protect mode cuz the lights dont light up sayin that it is.. And I dont think the ohm load is to high cuz the amp is a rockford p1000db.. Its a good one 1ohm stable mono block amp.. It drains alot of power I can feel it..

Try getting an Optima Yellow Top Battery. Those are designed specifically for audio systems. Sounds like you amp does run out of power and tries to protect itself from messing up. The capacitor isn't really going to change anything.

it sounds to me like you are having a major voltage drop. Do you notice your headlights dimming a lot at night. Amps can usually use between 12 and 16 volts, but i think your voltage drops below that when the subs hit. This is also bad for your car too.

I would suggest doing the big 3 upgrade.

and upgrading your battery to a yellow top.

Also ditch the cap it is just putting more strain on your electrical system
