I need a new phone

I have an old phone that I use to make calls on. (gasp) My family insists that I come into the 21st century and get a phone I can text with, surf the web, read email. The big part is texting. My husband has a Droid X, but I want the feel of an actual keyboard. I have been looking at the Blackberry and I like the look of them and am familiar with the brand. We have Verizon so I have looked at what they have. I am not familiar with how the HTC or the Samsung is with reliability and I have looked at the Palm Pixie Plus which I liked too. What is the best phone for someone like me who has never had a smartphone?
 
My wife has the DROID X, and I have to admit, the touch keys are a lot easier to use than I thought with the large screen. If you want a physical keyboard, check out the DROID 2, as it is better than the DROID. One thing that you have to keep in mind is that YOU WILL HAVE A $30 extra per month data plan. Make sure you get something top of the line. The LG Ally and the Devour have a physical keyboard, but are not so great. Make sure you even want a smart phone, too. Its not something to take lightly, as it involves a large investment.
