Yep...stay away from discount stores. Check out ALL the local bike shops & ask questions...lots of questions. The best set up will be a bike with a rear cassette hub vs. what's called a 'freewheel', AND double walled rims. You may not need this much, as a bike like this is designed to withstand some real punishment.

Personally - I like Raleigh bikes. But, check them all out - Trek, Giant, etc. Get one that feels right to you. Feel & fit is most important.

Hello! I need a new bicycle. I'm 5'4, and weigh 110 pounds. I need a mountain bike that is durable and works well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
