you help? I'm a few months short of a year from graduating and I've become a nervous wreck...
My original plan was to start out at a community college then transfer to a university. Unfortunately, my only means of paying for my tuition would be through a grant from the military, something I had been planning on joining since my middle school years.
What are the down falls of this plan?
(I know joining the Marines is a tough thing to some people, but I've always been extremely interested in it, plus I'm a "military brat" so I've received a lot of advice and motivation from my grandparents, along with others family members that have joined, So I know I'm mentally prepared for the experience.)
Here's the huge problem with my decision; My elders told me to finish college before I decide to join the military, mostly because they don't want me to experience what it's like to be a lower rank in the military-- They want me to graduate and enter the Marines as an officer; however, I know it will be Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for them to pay for my tuition in the future, and I don't want to rely on them, or add to their financial problems.
I'm completely torn between these two plans...
I need some advice, what is the problem with my plan to enlist and get through college through a grant by the military?
Should I just go with what my elders want me to do, even though it's financially impossible?
