i like taking alot of pictures here and there and i keep them on my computer but i just hate how weird they look on the pre-installed programs on my PC, i downloaded iTunes and that came with QuickTime that can be used to view pictures, i like it but its just not what i want and it keeps prompting me to buy it, i also wanted photoshop to edit some pictures but i have to make an account and have to pay for it, i dont want to pay one cent at all and no more accounts i want to make, can you guys please help me out? i need something as good as photoshop and something for me to view pictures on my PC but remember, it has to be free and easy, oh sorry, i want something that is not so plain when viewing photos, kinda one that is elegant, but one that reads several image formats and not just the standards, and one that can attempt to see corrupted images or atleast fix them, windows photo viewer is rather irritating, it cant even see .GIF without opening up the browser, i want to just click and see the photo just like i do on my digital camera, sorry for the lack of details! good luck ol' chaps!

Here's a link to a good "free" image viewer/editor that may not be "elegant" enough for you but there are also other programs on this link that you can investigate.

This image viewer and editor is a longtime favorite among our staff, and with good reason. IrfanView is simple, fast, and free for individual use. Upon installation, the app attempts to install two Google programs, but you can opt out.

The program lets you open and edit images, as well as multiple media formats. You can cut and crop images, apply batch conversions, add, sharpen, or blur effects, create panoramas, and change color modes easily. The program continues to add support for an array of file formats and has plug-in support for most image, video, and sound formats, including MP3, AVI, audio CD, and WMA. The interface is far from fancy but should be easy enough for most users to figure out. An IrfanView

Picasa is a pretty good photo editor, it takes some time to get used to the different tools, but there's a lot you can do, and its free. http://picasa.google.com/ <------ this is the link you can click on and just click the big blue download button. Good luck!
