I need a good grooming process before shows. I show in Jumpers 3'9-4'0 and 2st level Dressage. I also do eventing occasionally. I have a dark bay Hanoverian gelding. He has one hind low sock and a slight star in the middle of his forehead (Sorry do not know the proper term. Right below where his brow band goes).

What else can I do? What products do you use when bathing your horse? How can I make his markings whiter? What supplements can I put in his food to make his coat more shiny? What can I add to his food to make his coat shinier (Ex... 1/2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar? Any other tips you would be willing to share with me would help!

I need things to do on top of regular grooming as well.

Here is what my grooming looks like before riding... Time: 1 hour+.

I walk him until he is warmed up. Then I take him to the cross ties...

Pick his hooves. (the most important part of the grooming process)

Hoof oil. (Only like 3 times a week though)

Dandy brush.

Currycomb.

Body brush.

Sponge his eyes and nostrils. (with one sponge)

Sponge his dock. (I use another sponge to sponge his dock)

Water brush. (To get the top of his tail wet so I can put on a..

Tail bandage. (I leave the tail bandage on for the rest of the grooming)

Comb the mane to the right side. (Since I braid the mane I do not do this everyday)

Braid the mane. (Obviously I do not do this everyday)

A final polish. I take a damp towel and wipe it all over his body. (It makes him shiny)

Pick the tail. (I spray coat sheen and pick it out with my fingers) (This is when I have removed the tail bandage)

Then give him a message. This take a "LONG" time. Don't worry I learned from a professional.

Do his stretches. I also learned this from a professional.

Groom the head. I take a face brush and brush his head. (With the halter off of course)

Two words. FLY SPRAY.

Then this is what I do "after" riding... Time 1 hour+.

I un tack him.

Groom the head. Using a face brush. Brush his head. Then put on his halter and lead rope.

I walk him until he is cool and for the most part dry... (er)

Pick the hooves.

Dandy brush.

Curry comb. (Lighter then I did the first time though)

Sponge his eyes and nostrils. (With one sponge)

Sponge the dock. (Using a different sponge then I did before)

Pick the tail. (Not with coat sheen this time) I just use my fingers.

Get rid of the last of the sweat marks. Soak a towel and wipe it all over his is saddle and girth area.

A final polish. Dampen a towel and wipe it all over the body.

If the flies are still bugging him I will spray a little more fly spray.

Thank you in advance! Blessings :)
No. His coat is not dull it is actually shiny all on his own. I just want to make him sparkle and totally stand out. I want people to stop and look at him just to admire him as I do!
