I have an aquarium with 3 iridescent shark fish, 2 swordtails, 3 tetras, and 3 small red fish which I cannot recall their exact names. The problem is that one of the smaller red fish has gone missing. I can't figure out what could have happened. I checked the filter, I looked under all the aquarium decorations, I even checked the entire room in the case that it might have jumped out, but I doubt that happened. My only other conclusion is that he was eaten. CAn any fish experts shed some light on this mystery? Thanks.

Soft-fleshed fish decompose very quickly and when a fish does die the other fish will consume the body, it's just part of nature. Whenever a fish dies the first thing I recommend is testing the water, almost 80% of fish deaths are related for poor water quality.

One of your iridescent sharks more than likely has eaten it. Iridescent sharks can get up to a couple of feet long. They are actually a type of catfish. I would seperate them and your little fish because even if this isn't what happened to your little fish they will most certainly eat the others at some point. Good Luck!!

he either died natrually, and the other fish ate the body (. Or one of the irredescent sharks killed him , then ate him. Oh and by the way. Irredecent shraks grow VERY large, large than the adverage aquarium can hold, I've heard one needs like 500 gallons. It is this reason they should not be sold in aquarium stores. You need to take them back, unless you want to buy a 1000 gallon tank. Please
