I must leave BEV - how can I reduce cancellation fee?

They didn't. They caused serious problems with all the 5100s and 5800s owned by EV customers. EV took about 10 months to issue any kind of update to fix the issues and it was months more before the PVRs became stable again. AEV, either you haven't been around long enough to know this history or are truly, blissfully unaware of what is happening in the field.

I have never had a hardware issue with EV receivers in 5 years. The problems have all been caused by bad firmware or poor signal delivery (often a combination of both in the case of the 9200.) Besides, I already have an extended warranty as long as I subscribe. EV will provide a refurbished receiver for a flat fee of $99-$149.

This is the fundamental problem I have with corporate contracts.

In this day and age of rapid change, how the heck do we know where we are going to be in two years? What will we be doing in two years? Who we will be with in two years?

It is wrong that these CROOKS (the corporate giants) force consumers into these situations to begin with. You think they don't know this? I bet they have know the percentage of people who "break" these contracts and tie that into quarterly results for shareholders.

I refuse to sign any contracts anymore. I would rather pay a little more up front and have the freedom to be rid of the service any time I choose. Especially when one is dealing with incompetency (Bell) that is notorious for horrendous customer support. You won't even be getting what you paid for half the time, but don't say you don't want the service anymore, you signed a CONTRACT!

I wish I could use these draconian tactics in my business. Maybe I should go to Harvard and learn them.

Yikes... this is getting horrific; I did purchase the receivers one Refurb HD and a Refurb standard + dish (where on sale at Bell store for $250). I got them installed free (I imagine thats when I signed a contract?); How much is installation? It should'nt be more than $300! and thats the only thing Bell has done for me... I do rent one more receiver though (a standard) for the Basement.
I'm still trading my standard receiver which I bought to Shaw. Then I'll see what happens with Bell and its non working satellite service (50% signal strenght) after the Bell Tech comes in on the weekend.

I just want to make a little clarification:the YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT represemts Sensual Poet personnal opinion...

I'm saying from the beggening that Bell Express Vu could waive off the early termination charges if you move in a building where BEV is not permitted, in a city where satellitte dish are forbidden, if you move to USA or where there is no line of sight...but we need proof, otherwise it would be too esay and everybody that has a contract will say they move to get out

No, I left MTS 4 months ago, because their HD service is ridiculous. So I would be forced to go to Shaw if I move into a place that doesn't allow dishes. If the place I move into allows dishes, I'll stick with BEV.

shaner is right. explain the situation to them and in most cases they should be able to accomodate you.

oh and yes, what ringmaster is doing is illegal.

nem, who hopes you get the answer you're looking for.

Sorry I think most people have more on the mind when moving than whether a neighbours tree is blocking out a signal from satellites to the expressvu dish.
I think people that install dishes for a living think about that.

If you get a letter from the condo board that they will not permit the dish there, signed by the president of the Condo board and fax it to the fax number I posted earlier in the thread they will credit the early termination charges

For the person that was asking if they need to send picture..no! In most cases were there is no line of sight the technician will call in and speak with the CSR to explain them the situation. If he didn't then we would have to fill a billing form to make the verification with the installer and in 3-6 week we get an answer and credit the penalty

Porp, the cancellation fee will automatically apply if you have a contract. Altought if you send us the information that BEV can not be installed were you are we will be able to waive off that charge for you

He most likely has to call Bell for his phone anyway. Just say I would like to move my Expressvu as well.

What is there to fight about? There is no line of sight? Was there any tchs at your house?Yes...all we need is a call from them and we waive offthe charge. No...what proofs do we have then that there is no line of sight? Have a tech in and with his confirmation we will waive off the charge...since if I undestand you situation you just moved this woudn't cost you it would be a movig promo

I hardly think that Expressvu for Condos will be coming to Calgary any time soon.

Bell is spending $1.4 B to upgrade lines in Ontario and Quebec for future IPTV - they know that satellite can't compete against Rogers/Videotron/Cogeco bundle offers

Ok I moved to a condo that wouldnt allow a dish on my balcony, but i did install it, but was forced to remove it. The building I'm in has a Expressvu dish but no HD service. I have a 6100, what use is that going to be with no HD channels. Expressvu told me they would send a bill of $200 and if I faxed them the letter that tells that I'm not allowed to have my own dish, they would waiver the fee. BTW, if i cancled my pre auth payments to bev before the $200 charge, honestly what could they do..

if you have an annual condo meeting, bring up the possibility of having a dish. Today was my condo meeting and this was brought up.

Just an update... The Tech never showed up at my house in the morning to adjust the Dish! They called that they would show up in the afternoon; and at 4pm they call again saying the Tech got stuck in a snow bank! Come on! its 2C here in Edmonton! Should I call Bell and complain about not getting my Satellite serviced for the last time or just try cancelling?

Just ask Bell to move you if they can't your contract is dead. Will Shaw give you the win-back promo or whatever they call it if you were never there?

Always trying to pick a fight...never wants to admit that the other could be right.

The clients we do have out there probably have generators...

Again I agree with Agent, after a Technician wastes his time and money, effort etc and proves that you the Customer has No Line Of Sight the Installation, Move Order, will be canceled.

It will have cost you Nothing.
It will cost Express Vu Nothing.
And you will be able to break your Contract without Penalty.

It WILL cost the Installer.....So be kind to him, he is doing YOU a favor, for FREE......
