I acquired a old ledger in a box of old antique books at the wrightwood memorial day community yardsale.
I saw that this book looked different that the rest. I opened it and my heart dropped. on the front page in handwriting "this is the cash book of the mojave miners union local 51"
underneath that it went on to read " the comb. to safe in hall" bla to the R 5 times bla to the L 4 times......
then on the right bottom corner I spotted the stamp of "the western federation of miners" which made me flash back to high school history class. I heard the name. then I googled it and there it was the cripple creek labor wars. 1903-04 and the trial of big bill hayward.
this ledger was from 1901-06. so I look to those yesrs and I see money paided to the cripple creek fund then lotd of money paid out to w.d. hayward....WOW!!!!! this ledger tells a story it is something specail. what is the value of this piece of history??
