I lost my 6682 at the local discoteq and im needing a new phone. I loved my 6682 ( won in a contest) it was my first symbian os phone and im afraid to go to just a "normal" phone. Im with tmobile and their current selection of phoones for the american market sucks. Im always snapping pics here and their. constantly using opera, and i love keeping my music with me. the only thing im afaird of is the annoying "low memory" that i got with the 6682. current owners feel free to list pros and cons... any other models i should look at? i found a n80 for 360 online. dont want to spend to much over 450 us dolars.

All sorts of symbian phones, all size and forms and price, a lot under your price ceiling

if youre looking at the n80 you might as well get the e65. Camera is a little bit worse but the battery is a beast compared to the n80's. I went from the n80 to the e65 for now and it is a big improvement to me. The size, the battery, the slide.

I've had both the 6682 and the N80. Both were great phones. But the technology advances rapidly. The N80 represents the state of the art as of 2005. My next phone will be the N75, and I suggest you consider it too. It will be released by Cingular in the next few weeks, probably at a lower price than you'd pay for an unbranded N80.

NOBODY HAS N-80? The questions a do have is the battery life. how is it compared to 6682? the sliding mechinism is pretty solid?

The N80's battery is maybe 1/2 of the 6682's

Seriously, the N80 isnt a good choice. It had a lot of faults. At the time it was still a decent device, but that was when there was very little selection in the new S60 3rd.

If the 6682's camera satisfied you, then any camera on the new S60v3 will satisfy you. Meaning you should compare OTHER criterias

I'm pretty sure the N80 was the first 3rd Edition device available and it came out during the summer of 06.

I owned one. I hated the camera and the battery life. Search a bit. You'll find many people agree.

I recommend the N73, if you can do without wifi.

I think the N80 isn't too bad. However, my mom is in the PH selling it right now and I'm pitching in money for an N95.

Battery life is okay if you are an average 4 maybe 5 calls a day person with mp3 ringtones, text messaging, GPRS/3G, etc. Not too great for OBEX and Music Player during the day.

WiFi is a good addition . . . however, it could have been better. After upgrading to IE through NSU, the WLAN scan has gotten more difficult, hit or miss when it senses my network.

Slider gets weak over time. I don't mind too much about that however.

The N80 is a very solid phone. I had a 6680 (almost the same as the 6682) and in my opinion the battery life on that one was only maybe 10-20% better. The downgrade in battery life however is worth the upgrade in pretty much every other way.
Also it seems as though battery life has improved since I upgraded to the IE software, so that's something you might wanna look into.
The camera is not bad at all. If you know what you're doing you'll be able to take great pictures. Definitely big improvement over the N90, although that had the Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus.
I don't like the thickness too much. It does feel very nice in the hand, but it feels and looks funny in a jeans pocket.
The sliding mechanism on mine is solid. It's a bit heavy, but I love how it clicks into place when you slide it open or closed

But like many people here I'd say that if you don't need the WLAN connectivity you might be better off getting an N73.

PM bostonirishguy here on the forums, he has an n80 for 395 in mint condition (I almost bought it, until I got a good deal on an n93).

BTW, I went from the 6681 to the n80, you will be pleasantly surprised how much you like it!

I'm going to side with the masses and suggest the N73. It's everything your 6682 should have been. Same form factor, though much slimmer, and a MUCH improved screen. The battery and camera are the best out there right now, IMO, and you can get one for ~$400 if you shop right. Check the BST forums, as well.

The N80's battery was dismal at best, and I got rid of it cause the camera sucked, as well. If you want a slider, though, I'd 2nd the E65.

Coming from a 6682 myself, I also suggest the n73. I did a lot of comparison shopping and since wifi wasn't a big deal to me, I chose the n73. I wanted a good camera so that was the deal breaker for me (auto focus!). The camera is MUCH better than the 6682. The battery life is also a big plus in my book! The n73 has the same form factor but it is much smaller and lighter (even though it's a bit taller) than the 6682. I have to say though that I was disappointed in the n73's keypad but so far that's my only complaint. I've had not trouble using the joystick thus far.

I paid a total of $460 for mine from the nokiausa.com site (free shipping and tax included) but importgsm.com has it for $419 plus shipping (total of $440 depending on your shipping option). And I'm sure you can find it cheaper through ebay or other online retailers if you just look around.

N73 IS A GREAT PHONE. probably the best one i owned so far. right now im using a N91ME with BL-6C battery, and i like it more than the N73 because of hte wifi, but definitely miss the screen and hte camera on N73

N80 is sexy, camera is better than people say, has wifi, keypad is great, it uses a directional keypad, and the battery issue (which is probably one of the most exagerrated claims on hofo) means nothing if you are a normal human being who charges their phone when they sleep. I have used the 6682, and I can tell you that honestly, the N80's battery is worse. I can also tell you that you won't care.

By the way, if you're considering wifi, just know this :

If you're wanting to use WiFi for home only, you can actually do that by bluetooth. Hence you don't need wifi, just a bluetooth dongle on your PC with a software for your phone called GnuBox.

Otherwise, if THINK you're going to use wifi in public hotspots, lemme tell you it's not so convenient to regiter a new wifi spot, then use it just to browse pages You're better off getting a cheap unlimited WAP data plan.

I had a E61 for more than 8 months. I bought it for the WiFi, but seriously, I only used it 0.5% of the time I used my phone. And I come from a country where unlimited data plans dont exist
