Dude, buy a one-way ticket down there and RIDE it back! The only way to go, and probably the cheapest. Shipping it will cost a ton and risks damage.

Craigslist has a ride share section where you might be able to hook up a ride down there with someone for little dough.
 
I would take a pick-up truck ,If you don't have one I would try and borrow or rent one,Or a trailer,I have a 1994 softail and it weighs 700 pounds. That is pretty far to ride a bike you have never rode before.There are shipping companies but they are Expensive.
