I Like To Break Things

I don't consider myself to be a violent person, and I would never hurt another living soul (basically because I'm a pussy), but sometimes I just gotta break stuff.

When my best friend stopped talking to me, I locked myself in the garage and broke a bass drum head and my only guitar I had at the time. Before that I'd broken a Casio Keyboard and a crappy HP printer.

My friend recently gave me a useless mixing board. I broke that when my old computer froze. Then I got pulled over by the police one day.

I broke my TV. Damn, that felt incredible.

There's something about raising something heavy over my head, slamming it to the ground, picking it up and repeating that process several times. Then I like to stomp all over the mess I've made and kick it around a little. The whole time I've been screaming my head off and if anyone watched me they would think I'm a lunatic. Afterwards I sort of just collapse, have a minor asthma attack, and then there's a horrible mess to clean up. I don't know if I ever want my friends to see me like that.

It's just that sometimes I get so angry. Maybe it's not right that I react that way, but if I don't do something about it, the anger is going to stay with me forever and totally affect my way of life. It's usually spontaneous, anyway.

A punching bag just isn't enough for me.

I've at least learned to break things that I don't necessarily need anymore. Next on my list is my old computer: 2000 Gateway, Windows 98, 500 megahertz processor, 10 gb hard drive, 128 mb of RAM. It deserves to be broken. I might use a sledgehammer this time.

So what do you guys do to vent your anger?

Chop some wood, punch a heavy bag, smoke a joint, sex, ... and yes, there have been times I would break stuff to vent my anger.

When my dad used to piss me off, I would go out into the garage, turn up the volume of my guitar and vocals, and sing the "Kill My Dad" song I wrote as loud as I could.

The thing that comes to mind when I read the first post was the scene in Office Space where they destroy that printer that wasn't working properly. As long as you're breaking stuff you don't really need anymore, and you're not hurting anyone, do it. I used to do something at college when I was pissed off, go around a certain building and remove all the faceplates to the light switches.

When I'm angry I seem to either let it go or I go into a weird trance state where I'll just stare off into space thinking until I know that I won't do anything stupid or hurt anyone. :happysad:
