I like this guy; is it weird?

so, there's this girl who i play tennis with. we're not great friends, but still friends. she dated this guy for a long time. i always kind of liked him, and they broke up this summer. is it weird that i like him? i feel like i can't date him though, cause it might be kind of awkward with my friend. please help me!!!
 
she's not a good friend so it shouldn't matter if you date him.
is she more of an acquaintance than a friend? because thats the way that it sounds and if that is true, you are free to date him.
