In fact, the whole "You're so emo/alt/metal/goth/whatever" has become a running joke in a part of my circle of friends.

Although I'm only 17 myself, I'm gonna act all tough and mature. Looks and popularity is something that matters when you're 14, but when you get out of puberty (no offense ment or something) you'll realise that it doesn't matter shit in the real world. (Or at least in the adolescent world) but that personality is much more important.
 
Give her a black eye. Being "slightly unattractive" for a while will give her some perspective and maybe, just maybe, she'll realize most things you get based on your looks aren't worth a damn.
 
dress how you want to dress...i do, my friends make jokes but in reality that's why they like me...coz i just couldn't give a fuck, i am my own or as Chesney Hawkes puts it: "I am the one and only"
 
Most people that dress "emo/goth w/e" think they are going against the mainstream and they have their own style. Well, sorry to break it to you ,but almost everyone is dressing in all black ,dying their hair black, and wearing ugly ass jewerly. The most pathetic at this attempt I have seen was a girl that had on a pink tu tu,checker board skirt, Akaline Trio shirt, Black/pink dyed hair, masscara out the ass, and more wristbands than a pro Basketball player. All you are expressing to people is you think you are ugly so you want to make your self look drop dead fugly. Trust me when I say if people didn't like you before good luck at finding a person that won't want to kill themself after taking a glimpse of you.:mfinger:
 
I used to just throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt every day for school...it really doesn't matter what you wear. I started wearing collared shirts, not because everyone else did but because I look really good in them. So now I get all of these "new friends" because I dress "preppy." Popularity is such bullshit. Oh wait, bollocks is much better.

look, take it from someone who knows:

You be who you need to be. Dress how you want to dress. Be you, and not who people think you should be.

Explain that to your parents, or whoever is riding your ass. Hoepfully they won't give all your clothes to the salvation army like my mom did and replace it with ankle length dresses...and she wonders why I rebelled LOL.
 
You do whatever hte fuck you want to, don't let some preppy bitch get you all uptight about your looks. I stopped caring what others thought of me a few years ago, I am way happier because of it. I just wear whatever makes me comfortable. Just because you go out, you don't have to dress up. I go to school without brushing my hair or washing my face. I go out the same way. That girl is really fucking shallow for criticizing you for what you wear, you should have bashed your skateboard over her head.
