I like the arts but reality is hitting me?

Ok so I've always wanted to be an actress. It's been my dream since the second grade but now that I'm in my first year of college I'm realizing that it would be very difficult to pursue a career in the arts. I say the arts because I love theatre, dance and art. In high school I was in dance and theatre classes. My question is I love the arts and I have always thought people should do what they love and I love the arts but I also want to make a lot of money and be able to support myself. I'm smart and I like biology but I LOVE the arts. I've been thinking that maybe I should become a dentist, but that would be giving up my dream and my love of theatre and dance. What should I do?
 
you know, nobody became famous or successful quitting or not trying. although i respect your thoughts on having a steady job and your partially right. it will be hard and you may not make money at first, i suggest going for that steady job and while your steady and supporting yourself well, hunt for auditions for plays and parts. if something better than your job comes up, take it. good luck.
 
I agree that you should get a steady career but not give up on your dreams.

I know my daughter wants to get into arts also, and she's feeling the same way you are.
