One day I bumped into a music video for "Bloods and Crips"
and i loved the music so i tried to find out more about the group.
Everyone knows about the Bloods and Crips and apparently in the early 90s an LA producer made a rap group with 6 of each of the two gangs best rappers and released an album.
Now this album is one of two that made it out before they started killing each other. And not surprisingly the lyrics just rip on the other gang... and they are really graphic.
The rhymes are SICK and the beats are amazing. I can listen to these two albums forever. But it occurred to me as i drove home from friends from the gym that it's really really offensive to some of them and so i turned it off.
I don't know i just feel like i shouldn't be listening to it just because of the image that it gives... But at the same time i don't feel that this criticism should be affecting my taste of music.
PS
Honestly when you watch these videos you have to keep in mind that like half these people are dead. It's so hardcore it's ridiculous.
