I like hateful music

One day I bumped into a music video for "Bloods and Crips"

and i loved the music so i tried to find out more about the group.

Everyone knows about the Bloods and Crips and apparently in the early 90s an LA producer made a rap group with 6 of each of the two gangs best rappers and released an album.

Now this album is one of two that made it out before they started killing each other. And not surprisingly the lyrics just rip on the other gang... and they are really graphic.

The rhymes are SICK and the beats are amazing. I can listen to these two albums forever. But it occurred to me as i drove home from friends from the gym that it's really really offensive to some of them and so i turned it off.

I don't know i just feel like i shouldn't be listening to it just because of the image that it gives... But at the same time i don't feel that this criticism should be affecting my taste of music.

PS

Honestly when you watch these videos you have to keep in mind that like half these people are dead. It's so hardcore it's ridiculous.

Wouldn't you suck if you listened to music that had lyrics that confesses murder?

I can't stand a slob wearing red shit
Dead shit, cause then i gotta get my gun
and shoot him in the head and shit

Yes but what he is talking about is not 'modern' rap, its old school, hardcore, and the original poster missed the entire point behind the music.

Metal's still better tho, bitches.

The only reason that ryhmed was because he used shit twice. Kinda pathetic if you asked me. You'd have better lyrics listening to Michael Jackson or some other shit like that.

I want you to sit down...get an instrumental...whichever type of music you prefer and just freestyle some lyrics off the top of your head. When you can sit there and do a complete beat without repeating a word twice...then you can tell me that these rappers have 'no talent'. I personally respect 'freestyle' or 'rapping'. It's not my preferred music but I do respect the talent these people have. Just because they sing about violence and drugs doesn't mean they promote it as a individual. If I could freestyle about killing people, selling drugs, fucking ho's, and punching nuns and make millions. Well I think anybody with half a brain would use it to their advantage.

I'm sorry, I just don't like rap. I've tried. I've studied it. I've hung out with people who like it. I just can't like rap.

For a while, I just didn't like rap because it was rap. Now I can say I actually know for a fact why I don't like rap.

I have a really hard time respecting rap as a musical genre, too. To me it all sounds the same, all the lyrics are generally the same, and talking to a beat gets old after a while.

I also realize that music I like can all sound the same to someone else as well.

But mine's better! :D

I find that all music of a certain musical genre sounds pretty much the same. But you gotta understand that these rappers that are famous are not among the ellite in the rap game. Pick up some Jedi Mind Tricks, Talib Kweli, Mos Def(yes he is awesome) and Army of Pharoahs and of coure Immortal Technique(not the freestyle on myspace)

Edit: Oh, shit I forgot Common, Sabac Red, The God Jus Allah, early NaS, Rakim, KRS One and Hendrix (he's not rap but still pick him up any chance you get)

Hell yes. I'm listening to JMTs new album. It's completely awesome. Also picked up Apathy and Ghost Face Killa's album, No Place like Chrome. They're both ill as hell.
