Hi,

For the past 2 weeks or so, I have noticed my walking into walls more and very unbalanced. I will walk 4 feet from my chair to my bathroom and I literally walk into the wall. I am losing my balance.

I do it also from a standing position. I can be standing and then start to walk and as soon as I take my 3rd or 4th step, it is like my left foot or right foot does not feel like it wants to land back on the floor.

I can't figure it out. Can anyone help here?

i would most definitely see yopu primary at the very least just for an eval. when outr balance and perception is just 'off' to any degree, you ahve to really start looking at all possible areas within the4 body that have some affect on just governing that. while the inner ears can be a reason, you really also need to lok at the others areas that just can affect balance and whats called proprioperception too. this would be within the cerebellum, this is also the area where alcohol has its biggest impact, thats why your balance among other things just gets worse as you consume more alcohol. it slowly kind of puts it to sleep becasue alcohol itself is a form of anesthetic. but the spinocerebellar spinal tract is also involved to a degree too only because it actually carries the signals from our legs to the cerebellum within the brain where they get interpretted as well. my cerebellar tract was actually damaged due to a spinal cord surgery and my overall balance was really bad at first. i still cannot tell just exactly where my legs really are when my eyes are shut. very bizzarre let me tell ya.

certain types of Rx meds can also really throw your balance and perceptions off too. all this just really needs some testing to see what may or may not actually be going on in the most likely areas. that can be done with just an MRI(preferrably contrasted) done on the brain and the full spinal too. but the easiest thing right now would be to just get your ears ruled out right now and checked for abnormalities and any possible fluid in them that just can throw off the balance in people.

just make an appt with your primary doc right now to get this fully evaled and any testing referrals made. any real Dx of anything is usually done by simple testing the most likely areas, ruling them in or out as the possible culprit and trying to treat what you find. just basically tracking back symptoms to their base.

hopefully this is just an inner ear issue that will clear by itself or with some type of anti Bs, but you DO really need to get that good look inside too. i do wish you luck for a really fast Dx of the problem. please keep me posted. FB
