I just watched that 20 minute iPhone tutorial...

on all counts...

even without 3g and its other "shortcomings" i find it hard not to recognize the innovation put towards the user interface and usability.

Nice Av

C'mon you have a PPC... you don't slide out the keyboard and just type "Brian" or "Rebecca"? Fucking since Windows Mobile I don't remember anyones number... I know names really well, though!

Mossburg from the WSJ. You said he said he loved the keyboard. Here is what he has said.

"I can already see some things I don?t like about it," he told the audience. "[But] I see some other things that I do like a lot about it."

For him, the real focus in coming weeks would be gauging the use of a touchscreen for typing, which eliminates the tactile feedback that some demand for messaging. The predictive typing and correction work "a little better" than expected, he said, but the small amount of time spent with the finished phone was "not a very fair test" and would need more supporting evidence to verify Apple's claims about its ease of use.

like i just posted, what you're talking about is the chronicle forum. a week later, he was on record with some amateur video guy saying he totally agreed with jobs assessment that it takes about a week to get comfortable then its just like any other keyboard. his comment about using thumbs after a week is what inspired the same comment in the 'intro' video.

i've used touch screen keyboards and my current phone(moto q) has a full real qwerty. the touch screen shit doesn't come close to being as good and was just frustrating as all hell. im sure apple did the best job they could w the touch screen compared to their competitors' options, but it is still going to be lacking. if i didn't care about a real keyboard i would find the iphone a decent option(except for the fact i's expensive as all fuck)
